It is a simple and easy sweet. These murmura ladoos are also known as seasonal and made during Makar Sankranti/Uttarayan specially in winter season. These ladoos are so easy to make and takes least amount of ingredients. These laddus are gluten free treats.

Main ingredient of this recipe is murmura/puffed rice. Puffed rice is a type of puffed grain made from rice. Puffed rice is very light and low calories so this is one of the healthiest snacks. It is one of the favorite snack for kids. This gluten free recipe is very easy to prepare.

Murmura ladoo is a traditional Indian sweet recipe made with puffed rice and melted jaggery syrup.

Ingredients

  • 3 cup murmura

  • 1 tsp ghee

  • 1 cup jaggery

Directions

  • Firstly in a pan dry roast 3 cup of murmura on a low flame. Dry roast until the murmura turns crisp and keep it aside.
  • In a pan heat 1 tsp ghee and add 1 cup jaggery.
  • Keep the flame low and stir continuously until the jaggery melts.
  • Stir on low flame until it turns frothy.
  • Check the consistency by dropping jaggery syrup into the bowl of water, it should form a soft ball.
  • Turn off the flame and add dry roasted murmura and gently mix well. Mix until the mixture is well combined.
  • Grease your hands with ghee or wet your hands with water and prepare ladoo when mixture is still warm.
  • Finally enjoy murmura ladoo.

Notes :-

  • Consistency of jaggery syrup is very important to prepare perfect ladoo. Do not overcook the jaggery syrup else ladoo will turn hard.
  • Do not let the mixture cools down else it will not be possible to prepare ladoo. So make sure to prepare ladoo while the mixture is still warm.
  • You can store it up to a month in air tight container.
