Boiled corn chaat is a popular Indian snack made with boiled corn kernels mixed with various vegetables, spices, and herbs. It is a quick, healthy and flavorful dish often enjoyed as a street food or a light snack at home.

The combination of corn with ingredients like onion, tomato, chaat masala, spices and lemon juice creates a tangy, spicy, mildly sweet and refreshing taste. This vibrant and delicious chaat makes the best appetizer for get to gather, parties or potluck.

Here I am sharing easy Boiled Corn Chaat recipe with step by step instructions and video. This spicy sweet corn chaat recipe or masala corn recipe is very easy to prepare at home.

Ingredients for Boiled Corn Chaat :-

Corn : I have used fresh american sweet corn or corn on the cob. If you can’t find fresh one you can use frozen corn too.

Onion and Tomato : These are the base veggies for any chaat. Both add a fresh element with a crunchy texture. You can use red or white onion for this recipe. Fresh tomatoes are the best. Do not use canned tomatoes.

Green chili : You can skip green chili if you want it less spicy or remove seeds and chop finely.

Salt : Add as per your taste.

Black pepper powder : Add as per your taste.

Red chili powder : You can use Kashmiri chili powder for mild taste. Add as per your taste.

Coriander leaves : It is also known as cilantro. It adds a fresh herby flavor to any chaat.

Roasted cumin powder : Dry roast the cumin seeds until turns aromatic and darker in color.

Let it cool down completely and then grind it into a powder.

Lemon juice : For tangy flavor you will need a drizzle of fresh lime juice or lemon.

How to make Boiled Corn Chaat :-

Heat 3 cups of water and bring it to boil.

Now add turmeric powder and stir it well.

Add corn kernel and cook until done.

Once it is done, drain off all the water from corn kernel.

In a bowl add boiled corn kernel along with onion, tomato, green chili, red chili powder, chaat masala, salt, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder, coriander leaves and lime juice.

Mix everything well.

Enjoy boiled corn chaat.

Notes :-

Use fresh American sweet corn or corn on the cob if available. If you can’t find fresh one you can use frozen too.

Adjust spice level as per your taste.

  • 1 cup Corn kernel

  • Turmeric powder – a pinch

  • 3 Tbsp Onion (finely chopped)

  • 3 Tbsp Tomato (finely chopped)

  • 1 small Green Chili (finely chopped)

  • 1/8 tsp Red Chili Powder

  • 1/4 Tsp Roasted Cumin Powder

  • 1/8 Tsp Black Pepper Powder

  • 1/4 Tsp Chaat Masala

  • Salt to taste

  • Coriander Leaves

  • Lime Juice

  • Water (for boiling corn)

Directions

  • Heat 3 cups of water and bring it to boil.
  • Now add turmeric powder and stir it well.
  • Add corn kernel and cook until done.
  • Once it is done, drain off all the water from corn kernel.
  • In a bowl add boiled corn kernel along with onion, tomato, green chili, red chili powder, chaat masala, salt, roasted cumin powder, black pepper powder, coriander leaves and lime juice.
  • Mix everything well.
  • Enjoy boiled corn chaat.
